On October 2-3, the Agricultural Technology Adoption Initiative (ATAI), in collaboration with Interdisciplinary Policy-Oriented Research on Africa (IPORA), organized a workshop in Dakar, Senegal, to examine evidence on the economics of food safety and agricultural quality in low- and middle-income countries, with a focus on aflatoxins. This event built on a 2023 convening organized by Tanguy Bernard, Alain de Janvry, and Elisabeth Sadoulet, which explored markets for quality in smallholder agriculture.
By engaging policymakers in the food safety sector, the workshop fostered dialogue between researchers and policymakers, aiming to adapt research insights to inform policy, strategy, and program decisions.
