Her works aims to improve humanitarian policy and programs through conducting rigorous research and supporting practitioners and policy makers to use evidence in decision-making. Her research focuses on developing and testing interventions that prevent and mitigate the consequences of violence against women and children in areas of armed conflict. Annan is the Senior Director of Research and Evaluation for an international humanitarian organization, the International Rescue Committee, a global leader in humanitarian response and recovery. Her research has been in northern Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Cote D’Ivoire, Liberia, Lebanon, and the Thai-Burma border.
