ATAI staff presented syntheses from ATAI’s work on improved seed adoption at the 2019 African Coffee Breeders’ workshop in Butare, organized by World Coffee Research (WCR) and the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), and hosted at RAB’s Coffee Research facilities. The workshop was designed for coffee breeders from the public and private sector and focused on (i) sharing overviews of breeding tools, technologies, and opportunities offered to African coffee breeders through the regional breeding hub and (ii) to align with breeding objectives with farmers needs. Additionally, ATAI has been working with WCR to identify and develop new RCTs as well as adapt evidence from other crops to answer questions in coffee value chains.
